Prayers to the Twelve Holy Apostles of the Lord

Prayer I

O almighty Master, Lord our God, Who didst choose Thy beloved disciples and apostles to preach salvation to the whole world and gavest them the authority to forgive sins! Accept their mediation for the human race, which Thou shalt judge in company with them. Unworthy as we are, we dare to set them, as Thy friends who are also dear to us, to intercede before Thee for the speedy salvation of our souls, entreating them earnestly: O holy preeminent Apostles Peter and Paul; John the Theologian and Matthew, ye evangelists of Christ; O Andrew thou first-called disciple, who didst bless the planting of the Cross in Russia; O holy Apostles James the brother of John and James the son of Alphæus; O Philip, Bartholomew, Thomas, Simon, Jude and Matthias—all ye holy and divinely chosen apostles, most excellent favorites of Christ, uprooters of ungodliness and planters of the true Faith: Help us by your mighty mediation before the Lord, that we may be delivered from all evil and every falsehood and may preserve the Holy Orthodox Faith which was steadfastly transmitted by you, that therein, by your intercession, we may in nowise be parted from our Creator by wounds, or threats, or plague, or wrath of any sort, but may live a peaceful life here, and may be vouchsafed to behold good things in the land of the living, glorifying the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit—the one God, Who is glorified and worshiped in Trinity—now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

Prayer II

O holy, glorious and all-laudable apostles, ye chosen disciples and confessors of the great High Priest, our Lord Jesus Christ, and initiates of His mysteries: Peter and Andrew, James and John, Philip and Bartholomew, Thomas Matthew, James and Jude, Simon and Matthias! Entreat Christ God, that He vouchsafe that we may pass from our vain sojourn in this world to stand at His right hand in His kingdom, that He may transform us from children of disobedience to children of obedience, and that, having put off the old man, we may clothe ourselves in the new man, fashioned after God in righteousness and the sanctity of truth: that, walking in rightness of faith, we may approach the heavenly Father in the inheritance of everlasting dignity, may contemplate heavenly things, and may most clearly behold the Holy Trinity in glory, unto endless ages. Amen.
