Prayer I
O holy hierarch Tikhon our father, great favorite of God and most glorious wonderworker: bending our knees in compunction and falling down before the shrine of thy precious and much-healing relics [icon], we praise, glorify and magnify God Who hath glorified thee and hath shown us His mercy in thee, unworthy though we be. And with all our heart, honoring thy holy memory with faith and love, we beseech thee: bear thou our supplication to the Lord, the Lover of mankind, Who sustaineth and saveth all things, before Whom thou dost now stand with the choirs of angels and all the saints, that He establish within His holy Orthodox Church the living spirit of right faith and piety, that all her members, cleansed of superstition and vain belief, may worship Him in spirit and in truth, and earnestly take care for the keeping of His commandments; that He grant to her pastors the holy zeal of concern for the salvation of them that have been entrusted to them to keep in the right belief, to strengthen the weak and infirm in the faith, to instruct the ignorant, to reprove the adverse; that He grant length of days, health of body and soul, and salvation to all right-believing hierarchs, and send down upon them diligence, wisdom and impartiality. And falling down again, as children before their father, we entreat thee in hope, O holy hierarch Tikhon, for we believe that thou who dwellest in the heavens dost love us with the love wherewith thou didst love all thy neighbors when thou didst abide upon the earth: ask thou the most merciful Lord, that He grant a fitting gift unto each, and all things that are profitable for this transitory life, and for that which is everlasting: peace for the world, the establishment of our cities, the fruitfulness of the earth, delivery from famine and pestilence, protection from the incursions of aliens, consolation for the sorrowful, restoration for the fallen, healing for the infirm, a return to the path of truth for them astray, strengthening in good works for them that struggle, success for them that perform good deeds, blessing for parents, the upbringing and teaching of children in the fear of God, knowledge and piety for instructors, admonition for the ignorant, help and defense for the orphaned, destitute and poor; preparation and provision for them that depart this transitory life for that which is eternal; and blessed repose for them that have already departed. Most of all, O holy Tikhon, ask of God, the Bestower of abundance, these things for us, for thou hast great boldness before the Lord, to Whom is due all glory, honor and worship: to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
Prayer II
O all-praised hierarch and favorite of Christ, Tikhon our father: having lived on earth angelically, in thy wondrous glorification thou hast appeared as a good angel. With all our mind and soul, we believe that thou, O our compassionate helper and intercessor, through thy certain mediation and the grace bestowed upon thee abundantly by the Lord, dost ever effect our salvation. Accept, therefore, O blessed favorite of Christ, our unworthy supplications at this hour. With thine aid, free us from the vain babbling and superstition, the incorrect and false faith of man that surround us. Make haste, O our speedy intercessor, to entreat the Lord with thy God-pleasing mediation, that He continue His great and rich mercy toward us, His sinful and unworthy servants; that He heal the incurable diseases and wounds of our defiled souls and bodies; that He soften our hardened hearts with tears of compunction and contrition for our many transgressions; and that He deliver us from everlasting torment and the fire of Gehenna. And to all His faithful people, may He grant peace and tranquillity in this present age, health, salvation and good success in all things; that, living a peaceful and quiet life in all piety and purity, with the angels and all the saints we may be vouchsafed to glorify and hymn the all-holy name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
