Prayer to the Holy Hierarch Ignatius (Bryanchaninov), Bishop of the Caucasus & the Black Sea

O great and all-wondrous favorite of Christ, holy hierarch father Ignatius! Mercifully accept our supplications, which are offered to thee with love and thanksgiving. Hearken to us who are orphaned and helpless, who fall down before thee with faith and love, and who ask thy fervent intercession for us before the throne of the Lord of glory. We know that the prayer of a righteous man availeth much, moving the Master to have pity. Thou didst ardently love the Lord from the years of thy childhood and, desiring to serve Him alone, didst consider all the beautiful things of this world as naught; and denying thyself and taking up thy cross, thou didst follow after Christ. Thou didst willingly choose for thyself the straight and narrow path of the monastic life, and thereon didst acquire great virtues. By thy writings thou hast filled the hearts of men with the most profound reverence and submission to the Almighty Creator, by thy wise words thou didst guide fallen sinners to the awareness of their nothingness and sinfulness, and in repentance and humility to have recourse unto God, encouraging them to trust in His loving-kindness. Thou didst never reject those who came to thee, but to all thou wast a solicitous father and a good shepherd. And now forsake us not who earnestly entreat thee and ask thy help and intercession. Beseech our Lord, Who loveth mankind, that He grant us health of soul and body. Make firm our faith; strengthen our powers; our cold hearts, which are weakened by the temptations and tribulations of this age, warm thou with the fire of prayer; help us, who have cleansed ourselves with repentance, to attain a Christian end to this life, to enter into the most resplendent bridal-chamber of the Savior with all the elect, and there, with thee, to worship the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, unto the ages of ages. Amen.
