Prayer to All the Venerable Fathers of Athos, the Holy Mountain

our venerable and God-bearing fathers of Athos, all-radiant luminaries of the earth, who shone forth gloriously upon the Orthodox Church from the wild valleys of Athos, the Holy Mountain, who by the beauties of your life rendered heavenly the Holy Mountain, our dwelling-place, and amazed the whole world with the splendors of your exalted virtues and the effulgence of divine miracles! Having now bodily set for a time in the grave, through the sunset of death, as righteous ones ye are with Christ, the Sun of righteousness, in your souls, and shine like the sun in the kingdom of heaven. There, spreading forth your prayers like rays unto God, the true Light, forget us not, your spiritual children, who languish in the night of the passions and in sorrows; but send down from on high beams of grace, that, walking aright the path of the commandments of Christ in the light of your virtuous life, we may be vouchsafed to gaze upon the light of the unapproachable glory of God, together with you praising God, Who is glorified and worshiped in the Holy Trinity—the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit—time without end. Amen.
